How it works
What you actually get
Best for: vehicles without a modern CAN network — older cars, classics, vans, trucks and motorhomes — and anyone who would rather carry a tag than learn a sequence.
The Autoblok works on presence rather than a code. Carry the tag and the vehicle starts normally. Walk away with it and the immobiliser arms itself a moment later, cutting the engine start circuit. There is no sequence to enter, no app to open and nothing to switch on, which is exactly why it suits drivers who would never get on with a PIN.
The detection range is adjustable between roughly two and ten metres, so we set it to suit where you park. Too tight and it nags you on the driveway; too generous and it stays disarmed while you are in the house. We tune that with you rather than leaving it on a factory default.
The reason we stock it is the one thing the CAN-based systems cannot do: it does not need a modern data network. If your vehicle is older, or a van, truck or motorhome running 24V, this is very often the only proper immobiliser that will go on it.
A tag comes with a lanyard, and it is worth using. Keeping the tag on the same ring as your car keys undoes much of the point — if somebody takes the keys, they have taken the tag with them.
Two things to be straight about. It is not Thatcham approved, so if your insurer has named Thatcham in writing this is not the one. And because it interrupts the starter circuit rather than living on the data network, somebody who located the module could work around it — which is why where it is hidden matters, and why on a modern car we would point you at the Ghost or the Phantom instead.

The things people ring up to ask before booking — how the app behaves, what the subscription actually costs you, and what paperwork you end up with.
Taking the car to a garage, a valet or an MOT
This is the first question almost everyone asks, and the answer is that it was designed for. The Ghost, Phantom and Microbot all have a service mode that suspends the disarm requirement so somebody can start and move the car without knowing your sequence. You switch it on before you drop the car off and clear it when you collect.
The Phantom's runs on a timer and expires by itself, which is the version we prefer — you cannot accidentally leave the car unprotected for a fortnight. On the Autoblok you would either leave a tag with the garage or hand over the PIN override.
Worth telling the garage it is fitted, even in service mode. A technician who knows there is an immobiliser on the car will not spend an hour chasing a non-existent starting fault.
If you forget your sequence
It happens, usually after a fortnight abroad, and the emergency back-up code handed to you at installation is what gets you moving again.
Be clear about this bit, because it matters: we do not keep a copy of your sequence or your back-up code. Nobody here can look it up for you. That is deliberate — a code we held would be a code that could be obtained from us — but it does mean the paperwork you are given on the day is the only copy that exists. Photograph it, store it with your V5 and your insurance documents, and keep it away from the car.
You can change the sequence whenever you like — after a house move, a relationship ending, or handing the car to a young driver. On the Phantom you can do it yourself from your phone. On the others, bring the car to us. If both the sequence and the back-up code are gone, ring us anyway: it becomes a job rather than a phone call, but it is recoverable.
What your insurer actually wants to know
Tell them it is fitted. Not because you have to justify it, but because some policies reduce the premium once there is an immobiliser on the car, and it is one less thing to argue about after a claim.
Be careful with the word Thatcham. Categories S5 and S7 describe tracking systems, not immobilisers, so an immobiliser being 'Thatcham approved' is usually somebody being loose with language. What the systems carry instead is TASSA verification, and we log your installation on the TASSA database in your name — that is the documentation an underwriter asks for.
Send us your insurer's wording before you book. If what they have asked for is a tracker rather than an immobiliser, we would rather tell you that now than after fitting.
Fitting day, and what the car looks like afterwards
We come to your home or workplace anywhere around Milton Keynes and the surrounding towns. Allow two to three hours. You keep the car and lose a morning rather than a day.
On the CAN-based systems nothing is cut, drilled or spliced — the unit connects to wiring already running through the car, and it can be removed later with no trace. The Autoblok is the exception: it interrupts the engine start circuit, so that one is a wiring connection, made properly and reversibly.
When the trim goes back on there is nothing to see. No LED, no keypad, no extra fob. Somebody sitting in the driver's seat would have no way of knowing. That is not a styling decision — a system a thief can spot is a system a thief can plan around.
Before we leave, you choose your sequence, we set up service mode, and we run through it until you are comfortable with it. Then we are on the end of the phone for as long as you own the car.

About the Meta Autoblok
Will it fit my older car or van?
Almost certainly, and that is the whole point of it. It does not rely on a modern CAN network the way the Ghost and the Phantom do, and it runs on 12V or 24V, so classics, vans, trucks and motorhomes are all fair game. Send us the vehicle and we will confirm.
Is it Thatcham approved?
No. If your insurer has asked for Thatcham in writing, this is not the system to satisfy them and we would rather tell you now than after fitting. Where no specific approval has been demanded, it is a sound, well-made immobiliser from a manufacturer that has been doing this since 1973.
What happens if I lose the tag?
The three digit PIN override we set up with you on the day is what gets you moving, and we can supply a replacement tag. Keep the second tag somewhere safe at home rather than in the glovebox — a spare tag in the car is no spare at all — and write the override down somewhere that is not the car. We do not keep a record of it.
Should I keep the tag on my car keys?
No, and this is the mistake people make. If the tag lives on the same ring as the keys then anybody who takes the keys has taken the immobiliser with them. Use the lanyard, or put it in a bag or a coat pocket you carry anyway.
How is this different from the Ghost or the Phantom?
Those sit on the car's data network and need a sequence entered before the engine will fire, which makes them the stronger choice on a modern car. The Autoblok trades a little of that for convenience and for fitting almost anything with an engine. On a newer vehicle we will usually recommend the other two; on an older one, this is the one that works.
Will it affect my warranty or damage the car?
No. It connects to the car's existing network — nothing is cut, drilled or spliced — and it can be removed later with no trace. Manufacturers and insurers expect to see exactly this kind of installation.
