Bletchley
Bletchley is part of the Milton Keynes urban area and a few minutes from us, which makes it the one town on this list where distance is not a consideration at all. It is also one of the few parts of Milton Keynes with genuinely old housing. The Victorian and inter-war terraces around Fenny Stratford and Old Bletchley predate the new city by a century, and they were not built with cars in mind.
A good share of Bletchley cars live at the kerb overnight rather than on a driveway. That means the car is in a public place all night, often not visible from the house and frequently not under a light — which removes most of the deterrent value people assume they are buying with an alarm. Had my Mercedes C180 in with Kaine to replace both front suspension springs. I knew that this was not an easy job on this car. Dropped the car off in the morning and it was ready that afternoon. He did an amazing job and I'll be recommending him to friends and family for any work that they need doing. 5 stars!
Had my Audi S3 in for a complete overhaul — Kaine supplied and fitted all the parts, including cam belt, water pump, a full service and a balance shaft delete. He also noticed one of my rear callipers was sticking, so recommended and fitted a new calliper and new rear discs and pads too. A 5 star service — I'll only use Kaine from now on for any mechanical work.
Exceptional experience with Kaine. Came out to me, took my car and fixed it all within two hours. Very impressed and will definitely call him if needed again. Great price.
Questions
Yes. We work kerbside regularly around Fenny Stratford and Old Bletchley, where driveways are the exception rather than the rule. The van is self-powered so we need nothing from the house, and we work from the pavement side of the car. All we ask is that the space in front and behind is clear enough to open the doors fully.
More so, not less. On a driveway you at least have the house, the lighting and the awkwardness of reversing off. On the street the car is in a public place all night with none of that, so a system that stops it being driven is doing more of the work. If the car has keyless entry and lives at the kerb, that is the strongest case for an immobiliser we see anywhere.
Not for fitting security — the fitted price is the price, wherever you are in our coverage, and if somewhere is too far we will say so when you call rather than adding a charge to cover it. Everything else we come out to carries a £60 call-out, because that is us bringing the workshop to a job that would normally come to us.
Somewhere to park the car for a couple of hours, all keys for the vehicle, and someone at the address to take the handover at the end. That is it — the van carries its own power, so we need nothing from the house.
